For weeks now, there have been rife speculations that the Infinix Note 4 will receive the official Android Oreo update from Infinix Mobility after series of beta testing. The rumours and speculations have, however, turned out to be valid as some units of the Infinix Note 4 have received notifications prompting them to update to the latest Google OS. I use the Infinix Note 4 as my daily driver and some hours into March 10, 2018 about 200 AM, I received a âSystem Updateâ message in my notification tray prompting me to install my device to the latest system version. Upon clicking the prompt, Alas! it was the latest Android Oreo With this update, the Infinix Note 4 will be the first smartphone from the OEM to receive the Android Oreo update. Some features that the Infinix Note 4 Android Oreo update will bring on board include New message notification. New eye protection mode. DUO video call. New Picture-in-Picture mode. Singlehanded mode updated. Updated GMS patch. Asides the new additions, the Infinix Note 4 Android Oreo update will also optimize the display screen and camera effects, display of theme wallpapers, battery endurance, desktop layout, and system stability and performance. Requirements for Infinix Note 4 Android Oreo update All Infinix Note 4 units new and old are eligible for this update, but the following requirements have to be met for a successful update An unrooted Infinix Note 4, as Infinix has warned that the update may crash/brick rooted Note 4. So you should unroot your device if you want to update your install the Infinix Note 4 Android Oreo update over-the-air. At least 30% battery life. And if during the upgrade, your battery falls below 30%, you should plug in your device to a power source. A 50% battery level is recommended. At least 2GB ROM. Click on âDownload and Installâ to start downloading the update package. Depending on your network reception and strength, the download should take between 30 minutes to 1 hour. When the download is complete, the upgrade package is verified and you can now proceed with the installation of the Android Oreo OS by clicking âInstallâ. The Infinix Note 4 will automatically go off and begin the installation. This takes only about 5 minutes. Once the installation is complete, the device reboots and finishes the update. At this point, you should notice some changes in the entire UI of the device. The cliche âGalleryâ icon has been renamed to âMy Pictureâ. Some new applications like âPhone Masterâ and âEagleeeâ came with the update. App icons are different and have cool new shapes. Notification tray has been rebranded The picture on the left depicts the Note 4âs notification tray in Nougat and the one on the right is what I found when I updated to Android Oreo. On the new Android Oreo notification tray, the brightness level adjuster has been moved to the top, while âDateâ now stays at the bottom of the tray. Battery icon has also been modified. There is also a new âEye Careâ mode in the notification tray that allows helps filter out harmful blue light emission from the Note 4 screen. This is very suitable for night time usage or people like me who dislike too much bright light in the eyes. In addition, you can now easily enable battery saver from the notification tray. There is also an edit icon in the notification where you can add and remove new shortcut and tools to the notification tray. Improved Gallery Features The Gallery now âMy Picturesâ now has cool file manager kind of features. From the Gallery, you can directly hide folders containing pictures and videos by clicking on the eye icon đ at the top right corner when the Gallery is opened. And to the one I like the most; you can shrink images. This reduces image size and helps saves spaces. However, image quality may reduce during shrinking. Redefined Settings Menu The settings menu doesnât look familiar anymoreâŠbut itâs beautiful. Multitask Better When you want to switch between apps, there is a new multi-window icon that easily allows you enable the âsplit-screenâ mode and hints if an app supports split screen or not. **If the split-screen icon is cancelled, the app doesnât support split-screen.
